Notes and Instructions

If you've already created an account for the meeting website by signing up or submitting an abstract, you should log in before registering.
By logging in you will be able to expedite the registration process.

HSS/PSA: If you are presenting for both HSS and PSA programs, please register for the meeting in which you have a more substantive role. For example, if you're speaking at an HSS session and chairing a PSA session, you should register with HSS. Your registration with a particular society only affords you access to the resources of that society. For example, if you register with HSS, you can only apply for HSS grants and attend the HSS opening reception. If you want to attend the other Society's special events, you must purchase a guest ticket from that Society. Please note that Friday's reception is a joint reception, but Thursday's receptions are separate, and HSS is not planning to have a reception on Saturday evening. Finally, if you do register with PSA and you're on HSS's program, please forward your PSA registration confirmation to us, so that we can record it in our system.

Meeting Programs: In our ongoing commitment to sustainability and because of better web accessibility, we are no longer including printed programs with registration. If you desire a printed program, you must order one below. The meeting program is available now on the meeting webpage and via our meeting app, called Dryfta. Download it for iOS or for Android. All registrants will also have access to a PDF of the official meeting program once it's available.

What's Included with Registration: All receptions are included in the cost of registration. These include our Opening Reception (1 Nov 2018) and Prize Reception (2 Nov 2018). You're more than welcome to bring a guest to these events; however, you must purchase a guest reception ticket (1 for each event).

Donations

The History of Science Society relies on your support! The donation options listed below allow you to make a donation easily along with your registration. However, if the donation options are too limited or you would like to contribute to a fund not listed below, please visit our donation page on the University of Chicago Press page.

Land Acknowledgment Ceremony

For the first time, the Society will host a land acknowledgment event. We've invited six tribal elders to lead the ceremony prior to the Plenary Session. Donations will help offset the cost of hosting this event.

THATcamp

THATCamp stands for “The Humanities and Technology Camp.” It is an unconference: an open, inexpensive meeting where humanists and technologists of all skill levels learn and build together in sessions proposed on the spot.

THATCamp HSS 2018 will take place at the Central Library of the Seattle Public Library (which is one of the best public libraries ever!), a short walk from the History of Science Society’s Annual Conference. We encourage anyone attending the HSS meeting to come to this morning event from 8:00am-12:00pm, Friday, November 2, and we welcome anyone else as well. We will have coffee and pastries, as well as take-away lunches for those needing to leave THATCamp to attend the HSS conference lunch-time events.
